Site Engineer (Civils) Permanent Location: Scotland Salary: £40,000-£55,000 DOE + tax-free subsistence + benefits package Ref: GR1493 Gibson Recruitment Limited Job Description: Multi-national Civil Engineering contractor who, due to the award of prestigious new contracts in Scotland, have a requirement for a SITE ENGINEER to join their team. The business typically undertakes large scale infrastructure works, and this opportunity presents a perfect time to join as they expand their operations in Scotland. Applicants MUST be based in Scotland and, due to the nature of work, be willing to work away from home (within Scotland) when necessary. Accommodation & tax-free subsistence, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, is on offer on top of the salary. Role & Responsibilities: Oversee the daily site operations and ensure work aligns with plans and specifications. Set out works and verifying levels, alignment, and measurements. Work collaboratively with contractors, suppliers, and project teams. Identify risks to project success and resolve or escalate these promptly. Conduct progress reviews and provide updates to site management as required. Inspect materials and completed work to ensure compliance with specifications and quality. Ensure adequate permits are received before commencing any site activities. Address any issues with non-compliance or poor quality, escalating and reporting, as necessary. Promote safety as a core Company Value, in all activities. Identify, report, and correct any safety concerns, escalating where required. Work with HSEQ and Sustainability teams to meet our objectives and communicate updates. Essential Criteria: CSCS Card. Demonstrable experience as a SITE / SETTING OUT ENGINEER on civil engineering projects (minimum 2 years). Civil Engineering qualification (HNC upwards) Understanding of modern setting out equipment. Hold a full driving license. Flexibility to travel and work on different projects across Scotland. IT Literacy in Microsoft Packages. Effective Communication skills, both written and verbal. Awareness of issues impacting the construction of Civil Engineering projects. Awareness of Health and Safety regulations and best practice. Experience of supervising others, including subcontractors.
