A Glazing Designer is required to work for a small friendly glazing and facades contractor based near Portsmouth. The company have continuously grown and made a great presence within the aluminium glazing and curtain walling sector having completed complex and prestigious commercial, retail, education, residential and public sector projects ranging between £250,000 to over £5 million plus. You will need to have a proven background working with AutoCad and also have a good understanding of working with specified glazing systems such as Logikal and Schuco. It is essential that you have good time management and communication skills as you will be liaising with Main Contractors, Sub-Contractors, Architects and clients. Designer Position Overview: Review and comment on specifications. Review the drawings and calculations. Ensure drawing registers are completed correctly. Check drawings for buildability during the design process. Liaise with Architects and Main Contractors. Site inspection to ensure compliance with designs. Designer Position Requirements Strong AutoCad skills. Logikal Schuco Strong communication and time management skills. This role can offer some WFH. About the Opportunity
A rare opportunity available here, for an experienced / competent Facades Designer, looking to progress in to Design Management.
I’ve been approached by one of my clients as expansion as at the forefront of their business plans and due to successful tendering, within the residential market they’re recruiting for experienced facade design professionals
You will be primarily office based in the St Albans area, however hybrid working is a possibility for the individual. Within this role you’ll be surrounded by professionals who work closely as a team to deliver designs on time and within budget for a variety of clients such as Berkeley Group, Barratts and Bellway Homes. You’ll be responsible for all design aspects of the project lifecycle overseeing, drawings, structural calculations, engineering and coordination between client and architects.
Works are traditionally full envelope packages consisting of cladding systems, curtain wall, windows, doors, and architectural metalwork which typically range from £1m to £10m in value.

* Answer technical design queries from client, the company's sales team & installers.
* Produce high-quality general arrangement drawings in a cost-efficient way for approval.
* Prepare fabrication drawings for bracketry and pressed metal in conjunction with location drawings.
* Produce Glass & Fixing schedules as and when requested.
* Analyses the technical calculations and the financial and economic indicators in the development of new projects.
* Manages the production of the technical documentation accompanying the new projects.
* Works on refining existing solutions and details to improve their performance.
Requirements
* AutoCAD & Revit would be preferable.

Our client are a Specialist Leading Facade Contractor working on projects of between £0.2m and £2.5m in value, You will be required to provide technical and production information on glazing and façade elements. Working with the preconstruction department during the project handover phase to review the contract works and optimise the projects on Logikal/Schuecal to help improve margins and highlight efficiencies. For projects in the design phase you will offer support to the design department, providing project revisions on Logikal and reviewing the designs proposed to highlight any errors that the designers may have created; remove errors and rationalise the projects in advance of the work packages being provided to the procurement department. Working in conjunction with the procurement department to ensure work package items are scheduled on time and in budget to allow the company to achieve its desired operational aims.
The successful candidate will have a background in the Curtain walling industry and be proficient in the use of Logikal. Possibly from a Production, Estimating or Design background
