A leading manufacturer of specialist construction materials and products is seeking a Mechanical Lead to join their engineering team based in Birmingham. The role is on a day s hours basis, working Monday to Friday. Commutable from: Birmingham, Coventry, Redditch, Warwick, Tamworth Salary: Excellent Salary + Great suite of benefits including Pension, Annual Leave, Overtime. The Role The Mechanical Lead will ensure the smooth and efficient running of the plant s manufacturing processes from a mechanical perspective taking responsibility for both engineering and maintenance. You will lead a team of Technicians engaged with both planned and reactive maintenance work including facilities improvements, new equipment installations and scheduled machine overhauls. You will work on a day shift basis, Monday to Friday and provide both effective and influential leadership of the team in addition to proven hands-on maintenance expertise. You will work collaboratively with the plant teams and strongly support the work of the electrical and control systems teams. The Mechanical Lead will ideally have previous CAPEX experience for new machine and process selection and be commercially savvy in terms of project cost and budgetary awareness. The Person The successful candidate for the role of Mechanical Lead will possess a time-served Maintenance Engineering background ideally with a mechanical engineering bias. You will be well versed in reading engineering drawings and able to fault-find and diagnose machine issues down to root cause level. The Mechanical Lead will possess proven supervisory experience in a heavy plant / high volume manufacturing environment and be able to demonstrate an elevated level of awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental best practice. You will be an engaging communicator, able to support the needs of your team in fast-paced production operation. Data analysis skills are essential for the role including the ability to understand preventative maintenance scheduling and process/machine uptime measures such as OEE monitoring.
