Your new company You will be joining a long established contractor in the Norfolk region that has a strong financial standing. Due to recent promotions within the company and an increased workload they are looking to add an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. Your new role You will be predominately conducting take offs and formulating Bills of Quantities on projects ranging from £4 to £8m that will include: housing, commercial builds, highways, groundworks, deep drainage and general civil engineering projects.You will also be provided with support and training where required. What you'll need to succeed Ideally you will have a qualification in Quantity Surveying or HND/HND in Construction and have at least 2 year's experience as a junior or Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Your projects should be within civil engineering though they will look at those who can demonstrate proficiency with the NEC3 suite and show a strong knowledge of the construction process. My client is an established and reputable contractor and civils subcontractor with an opening on site as a Quantity Surveyor. This role will elevate you to the lead commercial contact on site on a civil engineering scheme, involving associated groundworks, drainage, roundabouts, access roads etc.
Joining this project, you will work closely with the on-site operational team as the project commercial lead.
The project you will be involved in to begin with is scheduled to be on site for around 12 months with your involvement expected to go beyond that to carry out final accounts and negotiate change etc. The company have a significant volume of projects in the region beyond the next 12-24 months to keep you busy beyond this scheme. The position being based on site, and close to the client office, means that this is an exciting opportunity to sink your teeth into working closely with the site team and being able to agree change on site with the client as it actually happens.
As a Quantity Surveyor, your daily responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
* Dealing with a large volume of change
* Applications
* Measurement and subcontract management
* Change management
* Internal company reporting, and
* agreement of final account
Required Experience
* Qualification in a relevant discipline e.g. Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management
* Experience, at least as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, on civil engineering projects is essential – 2/3 years’ minimum (roads, utilities, highways, rail etc.)
* Experience using the NEC form of contract.
* Must have excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
