What you'll do
Managing end-to-end strategic Facilities Management projects at national level
Pro-actively manage the property portfolio and conduct store portfolio inspections (800+ stores). Ensure all premises comply with current legislation and corporate standards.
You will ensure the facilities are maintained to a high standard and that all statutory regulations and internal procedures are fulfilled
Ensuring legal and operational compliance, through the implementation of Statutory testing and Due Diligence
Communicating with internal and external stakeholders
Work with the Procurement team to ensure the selection and appointment of external vendors, including running and participating in the negotiation / tendering of contracts, to ensure cost effective supply of all goods and services.
Manage and monitor external suppliers and contractors performance and analyse on-going expenditure costs / savings
Supporting our regions and regional Facilities Management Consultant across the UK to work on Service Specification, Performance Management Models and Cost Benchmarking
Developing and presenting concepts up to Board level

With projects spanning the UK, Western Europe, and Scandinavia, we are looking to appoint an experienced Managing QS / Commercial Lead to support all sub-contractor supply chain contracts and cost delivery in conjunction to high value (£250m+) construction projects across a number of regions.
Managing a 15+ team, approximately 5 to 7 contracts, cost, and commercial personnel in each of the three respective site locations, the new Commercial Lead must have a high level of experience working on either, Data Centre Assets (not BMS), Critical National Infrastructure projects on behalf of delivery contractors (e.g National Grid CNI Framework), or similar critical M&E systems installation experience e.g Airports, Substation, Rail etc. Experience in support to commissioning personnel would also be desirable but not mandatory.
- Managing a Team of Quantity Surveyors
- Advising on Contract Strategy where appropriate
- Annual and final accounting, estimating and forecasting
- Supporting commercial or operational teams with procurement requirements
- Ensuring applications for payment are assessed and ensuring that they are made on time and in accordance with the contracts to supply chain
- Reviewing any project delays and claims mitigation
Originally planned as an May start, the projects are now likely to progress from July at which time there will be the need for x3 MEP Quantity Surveyors and x2 MEP Contracts Managers – all to report to this Commercial Lead; all reporting to Regional (Europe) Commercial Director
Knowing the current climate has caused delays for IR35 changes, the individuals taking these positions must be able accept working in a Permanent or PAYE (contract) capacity. Whilst a contract rate may be achieved in the interim (depending on expectations) the client will always be prioritising this as a permanent staff post offering a highly competitive package.
