Job Description

We are building a brand new state of the art production facility in Hartlepool, brown field site. Your expertise is required on this project and then further projects across the north of England. * Advise and support Project Management and Supervisors in discharging their responsibilities towards the environment and respond to queries or correspondence on environmental issues * Ensure employees are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities and understand the requirements of the Group Environmental Procedures and Guidance Notes * Support site management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the Environmental Management Plan * Undertake regular contract/ yard environmental inspections to monitor compliance with environmental legislation and Company environmental procedures and ensure environmental controls are in place and working * Log, monitor and investigate any environmental Incidents and Non-conformances. Ensure major environmental incidents are reported to senior management and the Group Environmental Manager in a timely manner according to Group procedures, and to statutory authorities if necessary * Collate Business Unit / Contract Environmental and Sustainability statistics in a timely manner and submit to the HSSE Manager/ Environmental Manager /Group HSSE for reporting purposes * Review environmental sustainability and incident statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Develop and implement Project / Contract Environmental campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the HSSE Manager/ Environmental Manager * Produce Contract Environmental Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans, Local Yard Environmental Procedures and other contract specific environmental plans and/ or site-specific environmental instruction * Identify significant environmental impacts for contracts/ yards and help set-up contracts/ yards to include appropriate controls * Identify any environmental consents/ permits or exemptions that are required and ensure they are obtained. * Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Legislation, Company procedures and Contract Requirements * Provide Project Manager’s with regular and accurate details on all environmental matters affecting their contracts * Identify employees that require environmental training, provide relevant training and maintain records of training provided * Support the HSSE Manager/ Environmental Manager in the delivery of the Group Audit Programme. * Undertake internal Business Unit / Project audits as required * Providing input into pre-qualification, tender and HSSE award submissions * Stopping work with the agreement of the Project Manager any time compliance with environmental legislation is in question * Disseminate information issued by Group Environmental Manager, including changes to legislation, to relevant employees
