Growing civils and groundworks contractor is looking for a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the business, focussing on cost control and commercial project control.
Support operational staff in the fulfillment of their role. You will be undertaking training, learning and development to become a Senior Quantity Surveyor.
Management of all costs relating to projects. Oversee the process from initial enquiry and estimate through to when the build is in progress and on through to final costs. Ensure that costs are minimised and enhance value for money, whilst ensuring that the Company is achieving required standards and quality. Understand and adhere to statutory building regulations.
Role Responsibilities:
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks
Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use
Understand the principles of safety on site and ensure that any concerns are addressed immediately with the support of the safety team, commercial team and/ or Directors as appropriate
Provide commercial assistance to the operational teams
Demonstrate ability to work independently and efficiently
Assist with the preparation of tender and contract documents
Build relationships and understand client's and their requirements
Apply value management and cost control
Understand the procurement function and its interaction with site and impact on overall job cost and performance
Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
Identification of commercial risks and develop responses/ actions to them
Subcontract procurement/ allocation of work
Valuations of completed work and arrange payments
Assist with the development of Trainee Quantity Surveyors when required
