Architectural Technician
(Residential and commercial projects – up to 30k plus package - DOE )
Brentwood AREA - CM13- NEAR WEST HORNDON
My client is a privately owned architectural practice based near Brentwood. As the successful candidate you will have worked with residential and commercial projects from RIBA stages 1-5 – with good client facing skills.
They require an Architectural Technician (Technologist) to lead projects from inception to completion. Works are not restricted to new buildings but can also include refurbishment, alteration and other construction projects.
Responsibilities as an Architectural Technician:
Meet with professionals and clients at an early stage to agree the project brief
Understand the design aspects of a construction project influence and relate to performance and functional issues, so that practical questions can be addressed at the outset
Evaluate and advise on environmental, legal and regulatory issues
Assess what surveys are required before work can commence and ensure such surveys are undertaken and results fed into the project
Develop project briefs and work on these as the project progresses
Prepare and present design proposals using AutoCAD Software
Lead the detailed design process and coordinate design information
Advise clients on procuring the best and most appropriate contracts for the work they are undertaking
Liaise with appropriate authorities (local planning authority and building inspectors) when producing documentation for statutory approval
Produce, analyse and advise on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used
Carry out design-stage risk assessments
Assist in the administering contracts and project certifications
Obtain feedback from clients and people using the design, and report on the performance of the contractors and consultants
Appraise the performance of designs which are in use and produce maintenance management information
Ability to follow client brand manuals to ensure compliance to design brief
Complete weekly invoice sheets to indicate completed works which can be invoiced
Complete in-house projects
Qualifications Required
HNC or HND in construction/built environment, or a foundation degree in architectural technology

Technically Competent
Software:
o Must be conversant with all packages in Microsoft Office
o AutoCad
o RNET
o MS Project
o Revit – non-essential
