Job Description

The Company Our client is a large, Tier 1 building contractor that works across Wales. They have been established in the region for over 20 years and carry out a diverse range of building and refurbishment projects up to £100 million typically. They are extremely busy, with a very well established team and are an enjoyable place to work. The Role Due to ongoing growth they have approached us with the requirement to recruit a Design Coordinator to join their technical team. Working on a range of projects (initially a scheme in the Carmarthenshire area) and likely with an established Design Manager your roles and responsibilities will include: To manage and co-ordinate the design of various size projects from tender stage through to the completion of construction stage design information. To utilise construction knowledge and experience to develop innovative and cost effective design solutions in conjunction with the design team apply value engineering principles to ensure best value for all parties, and ensure an effective construction phase by applying an understanding of site management practices, interface management, risks, costs and co-ordination. The Candidate This role would suit an individual who is either a Design Coordinator already with a main contractor, or has already gained some experience as an Architectural technician (or equivalent) with a practice regionally, and would like to move into main contracting. You will also have skills and experience in the following areas: * Competent user of MS packages e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Teams (essential); * Experience of Powerproject or similar (desirable); * Competent user of Collaborative platforms such as Asite, 4Projects * Experience of 3D design management (BIM) and digital software eg. REVIT, NAVIS, AutoCAD, Tekla * Site experience in engineering or site management role * Well developed Technical Construction knowledge * Appreciation of current Building Regulations, WHTM’s, HBN’s * Knowledge of Fire Code compliance and Regulations * Knowledge of current BREEAM & Sustainability requirements * Degree qualified in a relevant construction subject The opportunity On offer is the chance to work with a Tier 1 business that values its staff.
