Health, Safety and Environment Advisor
To complement our Management Team

H W Martin Safety Fencing Limited (est. 1987) provides specialist vehicle restraint system services to the highways industry. Our client base includes Highways England, local authorities and the UK’s major construction companies.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced professional to provide expert knowledge, guidance and support to our operational business.
The role will be based at our Head Office in Blackwell, Alfreton, DE55 5JY, (M1 Jct. 28) but the successful candidate will be required to travel to visit active operational sites, undertaking audits and promoting our safety culture. The successful candidate will be NEBOSH qualified (General or Construction Certificate), have proven experience in a compliance role, and have demonstrable knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Maintain an up to date understanding of the needs of the organisation and its clients, supply chain and other interested parties, its internal and external issues, and the risks and opportunities arising from those issues.
* Ensure that business systems are fit for purpose including:
* Monitoring to ensure continual compliance with relevant standards, including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and with other accreditation bodies, e.g. RISQS, Achilles, FORS, SSIP,
* Development of management system documentation such as procedures, forms, risk assessments,
* Development of environmental risk management including aspects and impacts and on-site controls
* Analyse audit findings, propose and implement initiatives for improvement.
* Implement strategies for controlling and reducing risk in all areas of the business.
* Provide advice, support and assistance to the Directors, Senior Management and operational teams.
* Take the lead in the event of major unplanned incidents such as accidents.
* Represent the business at client meetings.
* Keep up to date with legislation, industry standards, best practices and communicate requirements throughout the business.
Experience and Qualifications required:
* At least 3 years’ experience in a Health, Safety & Environment Advisor role, ideally within the construction industry.
* Experience of business process review and audit of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001
* Experience of good corporate social responsibility practices & principles
* NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate
* Membership of IOSH (Minimum Tech IOSH)
* Membership of IEMA
* Proficient in IT systems and document management.
