As the Civil & Groundworks Contracts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing project contracts, ensuring compliance, managing client relationships, and driving successful project execution.
Responsibilities:
Contract Manager: Oversea all aspects of project contracts, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget and to the highest standard. Including attending Pre-and post-contract meetings.
Programme: Ensure robust contract and delivery programmes are produced which include design and procurement.
Client Relation: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
Project Oversight : Managing the project lifecycle from end to end, identifying and resolving any issues promptly. Ensuring project progress.
Risk Management: Assess and mitigate project risks, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership: Lead a team of project managers, site managers, site staff, fostering collaboration and excellence.
Quality Assurance / H&S: Act as a visibly strong leader of HSQ&E, promoting high standards of health and safety and environmental management by undertaking regular site visits and coaching teams. Ensure that all HSQ&E activity and reporting is accurate, legally compliant and within group policies, highlighting and resolving concerns when identified. Ensure work meets quality standards and contractual obligations.
Financial Control: Manage project budgets, costs control and financial reporting.
Criteria:
Must be an experienced groundwork, civils and concrete Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager looking to make the next step who can manage a portfolio of works from a delivery, HSQE and commercial perspective to achieve the targets identified in the Business Plan.
Commercial and Programming awareness – experience with NEC form of contract.
Proven track record of successful delivery of projects from start to finish.
Proficient using Microsoft Office programmes; incl. Excel, Word, Outlook.

Work is mainly focussed on clean water infrastructure (water mains), but also includes wastewater infrastructure and both water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects, such as treatment works and pumping stations. They are now looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the team, reporting into the Commercial Manager for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme of projects from inception through to close out. You will be commercially conscious to the delivery team, providing commercial support to both the delivery management and on-site delivery teams. Responsibility to ensure that operations are carried out to control costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety. Working as part of a delivery team providing commercial challenge and recommending actions to achieve and create an environment of out performance. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, some of the key duties include: Assist the programme area estimating team to ensure robust estimates are provided that align to scope and make allowance for risks and opportunities including any necessary analysis, transfer of data to procurement system and cost base. Subcontracts are properly prepared & reflect agreed scope. Subcontracts are properly managed in accordance with contract requirements including compliance with all responses to communications, payments, early warnings, compensation events, programme submissions etc., that all contract files are maintained & kept up to date. Work closely with the procurement team, Construction Manager and Project Delivery Manager to develop & monitor procurement strategy. Work closely with the site team attending site regularly to ensure they are aware of and can manage the allowances and outputs, provide robust challenge to achieve outperformance, communicate change control and escalate when necessary. Accurate live forecasting taking into account the programme and reporting in accordance with the respective work breakdown structure / cost breakdown structure. Actual costs are monitored and assessed against baseline, value of work done, solution cost progress, affordability challenges and final outturn calculations, reporting either weekly or otherwise as agreed with the Commercial Manager. Provide reports on actual costs vs. estimate & identifying underlying reasons for any variance & resolutions, in particular highlight, challenge & resolve variance to latest plans. Work with the delivery team to assist with project and programme risk mitigation plans are considered, put in place and administered. Ensure that the Framework Contract is properly administered, including timely issue of early warnings. Any inadmissible costs are not included within the project/programme of project costs.
