Job Description

This position will have an element of home and site working , candidates must have the ability to obtain security clearances Purpose Commercial responsibility for projects assigned within the agreed structure with the Senior Commercial Director. Responsibilities * Ensuring project cost & value forecasts are accurate and regularly updated by the Project Surveyors * 1st point of escalation in ADR * Review of all potentially contentious correspondence from projects prior to submission * Review all claims with time impact and/or value greater than £250k prior to project submission * Accountable for cost value reporting production including overseeing and advising project teams * Ensuring project revenue and cash flow forecasts are accurate and regularly updated by the Project Surveyors * Reviewing and interrogating project cost/status/package reports prior to submission * Reviewing project interim applications for payment to ensure full entitlement is claimed for by Project Surveyors each month * Ensuring all contract administration/procedures/mechanisms are always followed by the project team to protect the business’s position * Identifying project commercial/contractual risks (with clients & subcontractors), as well as implementing mitigation measures * Reviewing Subcontractor subcontracts prior to issue, and ensuring they are procured by the project team in accordance with the companies Subcontract Procurement Process * Ensuring Project Surveyors are certifying Payment Notices to Subcontractors in accordance with the Construction Act * Reviewing & developing project procurement strategies for purchase orders (in liaison with the Procurement Department) * Managing commercial staff who report directly to the Commercial Manager, including setting project, business & personal specific goals as well as roles & responsibilities * Assessing commercial resource levels and involvement in the recruitment process of new commercial resource * Reviewing & assessing commercial staff performance, as well as aiding development and career progression * Maintaining relationships with key clients and the supply chain * Ensuring business Commercial Procedures are adhered to by project teams * Regularly reviewing Commercial Procedures and advising on changes/improvements where necessary Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications Essential * Strong understanding of all forms of standard contracts (e.g. NEC/JCT/FIDIC etc.) * Significant experience managing numerous projects at any one time * Significant experience managing teams of Quantity Surveyors of all levels * Experience managing/producing/submitting/defending Client and/or Subcontractor claims (e.g. EOT/L&E etc.) * Strong experience in commercial reporting and forecasting of numerous projects at any 1 time * Willing to travel Highly Desirable (but not essential) * Chartered Membership of RICS / CIOB./CIArb * LLM or similar * Experience of Formal Dispute resolution * Commercial Related degree
