Site Operatives - Dorset based
£22K - £25K (Depending on experience) immediate start
Our client is a national Ecological, Arboricultural and Land-based Contracting Company and they have been delivering land based contracting solutions for the past 29 years.
Their extensive tree surgery operations and callouts are managed from Dorset and they have the ability to provide 24 hour backup when required.
They have arboriculture services that extend through the south west and across the UK.
All staff are directly employed and are trained and qualified to the highest standards in the industry.
They are able to carry out work often fulfilled by a variety of different countryside contractors, such as fencing, landscaping, woodland management and tree surgery.
Our client is currently seeking Countryside Operatives to work in a commercial world ideally with specific knowledge, experience and qualifications in the forestry, fencing and landscaping sectors.
Candidates MUST be able to demonstrate commitment and a high degree of practical knowledge and skill across the range of company operations including the erection of fencing, environmental and commercial landscaping, and forestry operations.
Are you competent in (or willing to learn) the following skills?
FENCING
Stock fencing, Post and Line Wire, Post and Rail, Chain Link, Palisade, Chain saws, Mechanical equipment (tracked post knockers, tractors, telehandlers, 3t - 20t excavators).Knowledge of machinery maintenance and repair of machinery worked on is also preferred.
FORESTRY
To be considered for these positions you must have Forestry experience including tree surgery and vegetation site clearance.
Experience in the following areas would be a distinct advantage:-
Mechanical equipment chippers (hand or crane), forwarder, tractors, telehandlers
3-20t Excavators and forestry attachments e.g. tree shears, grapples, saw grabs, mulchers and flails
Strimmers/brush cutters
Chainsaws (NPTC certificates
Tree surgery (with qualifications)
Herbicide application (knapsack or machine mounted) with NPTC certificate
Knowledge of machinery maintenance and repair of machinery worked on is also preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Plant and machinery qualifications will be considered extremely advantageous as follows:-
- CSCS (Essential)
- CPCS for machinery
- NPORS
- NPTC for chain saw
- FMO (forestry machinery)
- SSSTS
- Diving licence with trailer towing element (BE category on driving licence)
Successful candidates must be able to work within a team and communicate effectively with other members of staff at all levels in what is a physically demanding role. Candidates should be able to follow instructions and specification details whilst using experience, skill and initiative to achieve excellent project outcomes.
At times candidates will be expected to work away (occasionally at short notice) and at night in all regions of the UK (excluding Northern Ireland).During times away an additional allowance is paid
When working away, (during the current corona virus restrictions) must be prepared to use own vehicle for which agreed mileage would be paid.
Salary would be dependent on experience but would be between £22k - £25k for a 45 hr week + overtime.
