Timber Design Manager

Timber Design Manager Structural Engineering qualification required in the Northampton area. We are seeking to recruit an experienced Design Manager, with structural engineering qualifications, to join our client's friendly Buildings Division. A fantastic opportunity is immediately available for an ambitious and driven Design Manager experienced with Timber. You will play an important part in the detailing and modelling of a wide range of projects delivered across the residential, leisure, equestrian, commercial and industrial sectors, varying in scale and budget. Main Responsibilities: As a Timber Design Manager you will be responsible for: Designing timber structures, detailing connections and calculating loads and stresses on structural foundations, beams and walls Play an important part in the detailing and modelling of a wide range of timber building structures Interpret architectural drawings and produce involved calculations Use computer modelling simulations to predict how structures will act under varying conditions eg high winds, floods etc Assisting in the preparation of bids for tender Analyse building behaviour over time Have the ability to undertake site surveys and liaise with construction Site Managers Liaise and co-ordinate projects with consulting engineers Understanding of general construction (foundations, connections, structural loading and structural principles) Aid the development of a trainee teamPersonal Attributes and Qualifications: Have a qualification in structural engineering with at least 5 years of experience in the construction timber industry Working knowledge of Revit or other design software used in manufacturing for construction (e.g. 3D AutoCAD, Mitek, Wolf Horizon, hsbCAD or similar) Be well organised and meticulous with a fantastic eye for detail Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously Able to commute in and around Northampton area Experienced in the Building & Construction industry Previous experience as a Timber Design Manager
