Job Description

Our client is seeking a candidate to begin work on a temporary assignment with the view to potentially move onto a permanent contract if they prove to be the right person for the role. Working as a Loading Shovel Operator, where H&S is critical as are excellent communication skills and common sense the purpose of the role is organise and manoeuvre waste containers and load waste into haulage vehicles. Hour of work will be Monday-Friday, alternate weekly hours of 6am - 4pm and 8am - 6pm and the hourly rate is £11.02. Please do not apply for this position if you do not possess a CITB operating licence or equivalent (Wheeled loader over 12 tonnes). Main responsibilities:  Operating safely and effectively to help maintain a safe environment for staff, contractors, customers and visitors  Loading haulage vehicles with baled/loose waste and maintaining stock levels in good order  Reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses in accordance with company procedure  Enforcing PPE and RPE requirements with all persons in accordance with company procedure  Understanding and working within company Health and Safety requirements  Operating to all legislative requirements; site permit , working plan, and Health & Safety Law  Adhering to company business standards system; identifying nonconforming waste, reacting quickly to changing circumstances with excellent attention to detail  Performing pre-use safety checks on items of plant and recording/reporting defects in accordance with safe working procedures  Ensuring that company property & equipment meets legislative requirements by maintaining mobile plant to a high standard - completing regular planned washing & greasing tasks  To carry out any other such reasonable job related tasks that the company may require. Experience, Education & Qualifications: Essential  CITB operating licence or equivalent (Wheeled loader over 12 tonnes)  Experience in operating mobile plant  Understanding of safe working & environmental procedures  Good people skills; be able to communicate at operational levels to all departments  Good numerate, written and problem solving skills  Good initiative & organisation skills  Good time keeping & punctuality Ideal  Experience in operating mobile plant within a processing facility  Experience of working in Waste Management, Mining & Quarrying or other Processing Industry  Understanding of legislative Health & Safety requirements  Experience of working as part of a team to achieve set targets  Full driving licence Please bear in mind that you may not hear from us straight away.
