Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within a well-established Civil Engineering subcontractor for a Health & Safety Manager to work within the commercial team, as well as assisting the business support function as required. This is a full-time permanent position. Company An independently owned private sub-contractor, operating throughout Yorkshire and the North East. Job To ensure the operations of all external works, undertaken by company employees are completed in a manner compliant with all Health and Safety legislation. In addition, ensure that each site is a safe and compliant work place. Assist in the smooth running of jobs/ projects, as required. Liaison with sales, operations and site personnel. Key Responsibilities: Management Manage the Health and Safety and Environmental responsibilities of the Company. Manage the Company's library of Health and Safety and Environmental documents, ensuring that they are up to date with any new legislation. Ensure that site working is carried out in line with HSE regulations by a programme of site audits. Produce risk assessments and method statements. Ensure that site working is carried out to a high standard of quality. Ensure the requirements of the Company's Operators licence are maintained, advising the Company Directors of any discrepancies. Ensure that HGV driver hours are assessed and records maintained, with any discrepancies reported to the Company Directors. Ensure all jobs/ tasks are completed in line with the company procedures and policies. Ensure that all new staff members have received a Company induction. Maintain staff training matrix and records of PPE/Safety equipment issued and ensure the equipment is tested and returned without delay. Completion of any PQQs that the Company receives. Assist with the setting up of jobs on site. Liaison between sales team and operational staff. Member of management call out team. On Site Operations. Ensure all staff are prepared and equipped in advance of attending site to avoid' customer turn backs' and site access is arranged as required. Ensure that site working is carried out in line with HSE regulations. Assist with the setting up of jobs on site. Complete quality checks and Health and Safety site audits as directed by Company Directors. Ensure all jobs / tasks are completed in line with the company procedures and policies. Attend site inductions, to ensure that the Company and operatives are fully prepared and compliant with site rules. Ensure that each vehicle holds an agreed set of equipment and that the said equipment is maintained in a working condition and represents the Company's commitment to quality. Act as liaison between sales, operations and office staff on all Health and Safety and Environmental issues. Carry out tool box talks. Administration: Manage the Company's library of Health and Safety and Environmental documents, ensuring that they are up to date with any new legislation. Process the Company towards ISO 18001/45001. Experience Required It is essential that candidates hold a relevant Health and Safety Qualification (NEBOSH, IOSH) and have demonstrable experience in a similar role. Candidates with Civil Engineering or Construction experience have a distinct advantage. Working knowledge of CDM regulations 2015. Excellent presentation and communication skills. Focus, thoroughness and keen attention to detail, including maximising value and minimising costs.
