An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a committed candidate to join an established, industry leading steelwork fabricator in a key/pivotal role as Contract Manager.
Our client is part of a group of companies providing Primary Structural Steelwork – Refurbishment & New Build, Temporary Steelwork, Secondary Steelwork (Gantries, Grillages, Steel Lift Shafts etc.), Steel Staircase Carcasses, Main Frame Design/Detailing, Connection Design/Detailing, 3D Modelling/Detailing (to produce Fabrication Drawings), Design Coordination for Steel related Works and Fabrication to a variety of industries.
As an established brand and a UK leader in D&B Steelwork, this client is reputed for delivering a service synonymous with quality and excellence. The business has built a strong reputation for being an expert when it comes to delivering tricky/complex D&B primary steelwork projects £200k - £10Mn.

You can play a pivotal role in adding value to the sustained growth of this progressive organisation by working with the senior management team and ensuring contracts are managed correctly and to the satisfaction of tier 1 clients and end users.
This role requires an experienced candidate who can demonstrate 10+ years’ experience managing primary steelwork refurbishments and new build projects.
The principal role of the Contract Manager will be to assist the Directors with the management of projects being undertaken by the Company and to take responsibility for the supervision and management of the company’s contractual performance in respect of individual projects allocated to you. You will report to the Operations Director and the projects you will be targeting will initially range in value from £200,000 to £(phone number removed).
* You will be responsible for the performance of projects allocated to you and you will ensure that the terms and conditions of business for such projects are closely monitored and complied with.
* You will represent the Company at contract meetings with customers.
* You will have day to day responsibility for the smooth running of projects allocated to you. The aim is to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
* You will attend all contract launch meetings as required for new projects and you will familiarise yourself with the tasks to be performed and the financial goals to be achieved.
* You will attend bi-weekly progress meetings as required to monitor all aspects of each job.
* You will attend monthly meetings with the Management team detailing the relationship between cost, invoicing and certification for WIP evaluation.
* Produce fortnightly status reports for each project to be presented to the Director and project client/contractor.
* Attend closedown meetings at which contract costs and the draft final invoice for each job will be examined and assist the QS with settlement of applications and invoices.
* You will monitor closely the costs and estimated allowances for each project worked.
* Implement policies with regard to sub contracting and ensure that suitable terms are included with all orders and where appropriate that these include compliance with the Housing & Regeneration (Construction Act) requirements.
* You will need to be computer literate, possess a demonstrable track record, contractual expertise, command respect, have strong leadership qualities, good communication skills and in-depth knowledge of the Construction Industry (specifically structural steelwork both primary and secondary).
* You must be adaptable and be self motivated, have a hands-on approach, team building skills, have strong commercial awareness and a good understanding of the standard forms of sub contract is required.
* You will be qualified to NV5 Level 5+, possess CSCS & SMSTS or IOSH. You will also be capable of programming using ASTA, be proficient in writing Method Statements and Risk Assessments and preferably have experience in producing Lifting Plans.
