Job Description
This small building services design consultancy has decided that it is time to grow after a successful year working on a greater volume of ever larger schemes and spending previous years getting foundations in place from an organisation and financial point of view.
Despite the current economic situation caused by covid, they are in the position to recruit due to solid workload and ongoing commitments from numerous clients.
They are looking for someone to join them as an Electrical Design Engineer focusing specifically building services works such as lighting, power etc.
You will initially be working on smaller buildings such as:
- Community Centres
- Commercial building extensions i.e. extra classrooms, additional workshop space
- Elements of larger schemes
with the aim of developing your skills and knowledge to enable you to take on more complex and interesting schemes. Initially you will be working alongside the Electrical Associate supporting them and giving you opportunity to get a feel for the way that they work, how they do things and then step forward to taking a greater role on projects and within the company.
The role will see you visiting site, attending meetings, producing designs and drawings (you will need to be able to use AutoCAD as a minimum) and learning the tender process. In short, they will take your current skills and experience then facilitate you becoming a fully rounded design engineer.
For your application to be successful you will need to have:
- C&G or HNC qualification in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related subject s as a minimum.
- CAD experience
- Electrical building services knowledge and expertise is essential, such as cable sizing, voltage drops etc. plus the associated calculations and building regulations.
If you need support to complete your qualifications through day release, this is available while they are keen to help you if you are already on the path to getting Chartered.
In all, it is an exciting opportunity to work with highly experienced and capable Engineers while joining a company at a key point in it's development.
