Buyer (Construction)

A well established, specialist Metalwork Fabrication Contractor are recruiting a Buyer to join their team of estimators, design and fabrication professionals delivering complex Steel Fabrication services to some of the biggest construction companies in Ireland and the UK. Based in County Down, our Client is renowned for their expertise in both design and fabrication of metalwork and pipewelding. They have secured a creditable reputation with repeat contracts from a vast array of UK Tier 1 Contractors on projects such as London Cross Rail, Water/Wastewater Treatment Projects, Marine, Education, Residential and Healthcare. Due to this on-going success, they are looking to strengthen their Commercial team with the appointment of a Buyer to act as their procurement lead. Some of your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: Procurement of materials within allocated budgets. Procurement of Special Products. Placement of orders with Sub Contractors and suppliers to agreed rates. Maintain a live Yard Stocklist in conjunction with the yard foreman. Identifying new opportunities in the supply base and on-boarding new suppliers. Comply with the company QA Systems for materials. Maintaining records (price, Quality, Lead time etc), of products purchased and feeding back to the Bid Team for future reference.To be considered for the role you will have: At least 5 years experience in a similar buyer role within a construction or engineering environment. A third level qualification in a related discipline in Construction, Engineering or Procurement. Strong mathematical and communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience of steel fabrication would be advantageous but not essential.You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
