A fantastic opportunity is immediately available for an ambitious and driven Structural Engineering Manager, to become a leading part of a highly regarded, independent construction business.
The successful applicant will play an important part in the detailing and modelling of a wide range of projects delivered across the residential, leisure, equestrian, commercial and industrial sectors.
As a Structural Engineer you will be responsible for accurately working out the structural integrity of a proposed construction and ensuring it meets with regulations.
You will be working largely unsupervised, so your work will need to be of a high degree of accuracy and contain the relevant information for the workshop to produce your building designs. In addition to working with your design and production colleagues, you will be liaising with individual clients, developers and mainstream house builders to ensure a smooth handover once the customer's order is confirmed. You will therefore be seeing the project through from enquiry through to completion.
Responsibilities/Duties
Design timber structures, detailing connections and calculating loads and stresses on structural foundations, beams and walls
Play an important part in the detailing and modelling of a wide range of timber building structures
Interpret architectural drawings and produce involved calculations
Use computer modelling simulations to predict how structures will act under varying conditions eg high winds, floods etc
Assisting in the preparation of bids for tender
Analyse building behaviour over time
Have the ability to undertake site surveys and liaise with construction Site Managers
Liaise and coordinate projects with consulting engineers
Understanding of general construction (foundations, connections, structural loading and structural principles)
Aid the development of a trainee teamTo be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will need:-
To have a qualification in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in the timber industry
Working knowledge of Revit or other design software used in manufacturing for construction (eg 3D AutoCAD, Mitek, Wolf Horizon, hsbCAD or similar)
