Job Description

An experienced Civil Structural Engineer to be responsible for design and substantiation of reinforced concrete structures for the Hinkley Point C project. Minimum Requirements Are you an Engineer with a recognised civil or structural engineering degree? Do you have experience in design of concrete and metallic structures? Do you have experience in Nuclear or major infrastructure projects within other highly regulated industries? Job Description As part of the Responsible Designer for the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, our Client provides Engineering Design support for the Balance of the Nuclear Island (BNI). This role will be as a member of a large integrated team focused on providing high quality design, engineering knowledge & expertise. You will be responsible for modifying and adapting the design received from the Back Office, substantiating the adapted design of the HR Building reinforced concrete structures on the Hinkley Point C project. You will be supported by a group of detailed designers. They work closely with the Client and the Clients Tier 1 Civils Contractor. The civil work design is made on TEKLA and used as a deliverable directly for construction activities for different tasks. Main Activities: As part of the Civil team, you will assist in: • Modifying reinforced concrete structure designs compliant with the ETC-C, other relevant codes • Maintaining Client’s QA procedures in delivering the CW design • Working with the CAD designers in the preparation of the design drawings/models • Managing engineering changes in line with company procedures • Liaising with colleagues in both the UK and France Skills & Qualifications Essential: • Engineer with recognised civil engineering degree • Experience in design of concrete and metallic structure • Experience in Nuclear civil work OR complex structure • Experience in Structural Civil Work, Civil Design and Construction • Experience in detailed design or conceptual design in an office or on a civil construction site • Experience on project dealing with material interfaces • Nuclear or major Infrastructure project experience • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work in a team as well as on own initiative • Results focused with the ability to meet commitments & deadlines • Highly organised with attention to detail • Ability to identify continuous improvements • Fluent in English – written & verbal Desirable: • Experience with on site design support • Experience in previous EPR or other nuclear projects • Experience of working in a fast pace engineering project environment • French language skills – written & verbal Millbank are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.
