MCH Recruitment is currently supporting a leading contractor that is an integrated highways service provider operating across London and the South of England. They also that delivers innovative engineering solutions across the civil engineering and construction sectors including rail, airport, marine, energy, water, and environmental infrastructure. Our clients services include highways term maintenance, street lighting and electrical services, surfacing, traffic management and public realm infrastructure projects. This exciting position has been created to oversee the installation of high speed broadband throughout the city of Swindon. Reporting to the Managing Surveyor and working alongside the project managers, the Project Surveyor is responsible for all commercial and contractual matters on the site allocated to them and should be able to effectively manage a onsite measurement clerk to successfully deliver that project. They are now looking for a Project Quantity Surveyor to join the team. Key responsibilities: * The main purpose for a Project Quantity Surveyor is to achieve maximum recovery and cash flow whilst also developing and maintaining excellent relationships with the client. * Looking at the detail of all costs and keeping them to a minimum whilst maintaining excellent relationships with the supply chain – subcontractors, suppliers. * Being the key commercial contact on site to help support, advise and develop all members of staff on both commercial and contractual matters. * Making sure there are no out of period costs and value on the contract. * Ensuring the contract WIP is under 75% of turnover * Highlight any risks identified to the project manager / senior surveyor and discuss and implement resolutions to mitigate risks. Skills and Experience * Undertaking an accredited course by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) or the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES). * Relevant HND subjects include building/construction, urban and land studies, civil engineering and structural engineering. * A degree in QS and relevant experience obtained * Significant on-site experience of maintenance contracts * Experience of onsite measures * NEC form of contract and subcontract conditions * Managing others * Fibre/Civils/Utilities Background needed
