Job Description

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a committed commercial candidate to join one of the biggest steelwork contractors in Europe in a pivotal, client facing role. Our client is an International steelworker with operations around the world. They are reputed as one of the best in the industry when it comes to the design, manufacture and erection of iconic structural steelwork. This organisation employs some of the strongest talent within the steel industry and the opportunity to work alongside such talent on iconic steelwork projects, is unique. This client is currently working on projects £100m+ in steelwork value and the Senior QS will play a pivotal role in managing the administration of such contracts. With annual sales in excess of £200M, this truly is a unique opportunity to join one of the biggest names in the steel industry and work alongside the business leaders. The client has multiple live projects throughout the UK and a comprehensive forward order book which puts them in a strong position to attract, engage and support talent with long term career opportunities. The Senior QS will work remotely initially before operating out of the London office. The successful candidate will be accountable for; * Responsibility for managing project costs from confirmation of order to completion. * Undertaking cost analysis & preparing reconciliation documents. * Attending meetings and liaising with all stakeholders; clients and subcontractors on commercial matters. * Monitoring the cost of site resources (on multiple sites). * Inspecting and valuing sub-contract works. * Completing sub-contract orders & payments. * Preparation of & sending of accurate BoQ documents. * Aiding with monthly cost & value reports, quarterly reports & cash flow information. * Spotting opportunities to include variations and administering the contract in line with company’s interests. * Leading negotiation and preparation of final accounts. The successful candidate will be; * Degree Qualified. Being chartered (MRICS) is advantageous but not essential. * Heavily experienced with demonstrable capability when it comes to showing commercial management of steelwork projects (10 yrs+) * Excellent people skills * Commercially astute * Able to work with and engage all levels of stakeholder * Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills * Highly adept at negotiating This is a genuine, first class opportunity for a candidate who possesses the outlined credentials.
