Job Description

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a committed candidate to join an established, industry leading steelwork fabricator in a key/pivotal role as Estimator/Senior Estimator. This role will be home based with travel to clients as and when required. Our client is an International steelworker providing Primary Structural Steelwork solutions; Refurbishment & New Build, Temporary Steelwork, Secondary Steelwork (Gantries, Grillages, Steel Lift Shafts etc.), Steel Staircase Carcasses, Main Frame Design/Detailing, Connection Design/Detailing, 3D Modelling/Detailing (to produce Fabrication Drawings), Design Coordination for Steel related Works and Fabrication to a variety of industries. Founded in the 80’s and reputed for providing a service synonymous with quality and excellence, our client has built a strong reputation for being an expert when it comes to delivering tricky/complex primary steelwork projects (£200k - £20Mn). Consequently, they are called upon time and time again to manage some of the highest profile steel projects in Europe. The future outlook for this client is incredibly positive and you can play a pivotal role in helping them to develop their UK business. This role is key to converting commercial opportunities and requires an experienced candidate who can demonstrate 10+ years’ experience managing enquiries and providing estimates across primary steelwork projects. A candidate who knows the UK market and has a network within the tier 1 contractors which can be leveraged to generate enquiries is a key requirement for the client. The appointed candidate will be expected to; * Fully participate in the management of all incoming enquiries. * Liaise with Procurement. * Execute/convert a minimum of 3 enquiries per week to estimated projects. * Liaise with clients’ engineers, architects, other designers and internal divisions/departments. * Report on status of enquiries to management at the appropriate frequency. * 10+ years estimating experience on steel refurb projects. The appointed candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experience at interview stage; * Building construction knowledge. * Good level of structural and civil engineering knowledge. * Steelwork and Concrete design experience. * Ability to read/interpret drawings. * Can demonstrate pricing of projects from 50 – 10,000 tonne. * Be able to price a job on demand (using experience). The appointed candidate must able to demonstrate the following experience at interview stage; * Plan, control and report on enquiries. * Previous experience of dealing with contractors, engineers, architects and who they are. * Commercial awareness of economic construction techniques. * Experience of operating to an ISO 9001 quality system. * Experience of 3D computer analysis systems. * Understanding of costing processes. * Previous experience of operating in a similar company/environment/across similar projects. * Strong inter personal skills. * Ability to work under own initiative. * High degree of self-motivation and a commitment to quality.
