Job Description
Roof Truss Designer
West Midlands
£25-40,000
Full time, permanent
Your roof truss design skills are in demand...
** Experience in designing roof trusses, joists, timber frame?
** Interested in working to improve the tools you use?
** Able to work with complex architectural designs?
** Looking to be part of a small, friendly team?
Major supplier of software products to the timber engineering and timber frame industries seeks an experienced Designer with an interest in working with the software, ensuring fit for purpose and improving functionality as it develops. Based in a friendly office in the West Midlands, you will be producing designs for timber trussed rafters, joists, timber wall panels, trying new uses, checking features and providing advice to your Developer colleagues from the perspective of the user. You may have very occasional travel but essentially this is an office-based position.
Whilst experience in the specific software is not essential, you will need to be able to prove your capability in designing engineered wood products (eg roof trusses / trussed rafters, posi-joists, i-beams, metal web joists, timber frame or similar). You will need to be able to demonstrate an interest in software, web design or even just computer gaming. An engineering degree would be desirable for this position.
If you are ready to try something new, this could be the ideal role for you, particularly if you have an interest in improving the software you have been using. You will be involved in helping your colleagues provide the right solution, fit for purpose, for the whole of their European customer base.
You will be joining a company which is part of a large Group but operates very much as an individual business, which means you get to work in a small, friendly working environment, never far from a decision-maker, but with the security you have from a Corporation (investing millions every year). They practice old-fashioned values while using state of the art technology. You will find plenty of challenge, continually learning. Team working is a key ethos, where you will have the opportunity to share with others in a similar role, as well as your Software Developer colleagues. You will also have the chance to progress your career in this growing company.
