Job Description
Our client is a successful and ambitious main contractor with exciting plans to increase the range of quality of building projects in North Wet England.
They are looking for a Clerk of Works to join the development team in order to ensure major development projects meet quality control and comply with legislation.
The role is key to minimising defects and improving customer satisfaction by ensuring schemes are built to the highest standards, are cost effective and delivered within agreed timescales.
The role:
• Manage quality control (materials and workmanship) to ensure schemes are fully compliant with Building Regulations, development agreement, drawings and specifications, funder’s requirements and represent good value for money.
• Carry out all snagging and technical inspections.
• Maintain appropriate contacts with building contractors and consultants.
• Ensure accurate provision of information and handover on all tenures
• Ensure external consultants deliver effective performance.
• Liaise with statutory bodies to achieve compliance and scheme delivery.
• Ensure Fire Safety regulations are met and final fire strategy is correct. You will need:
• Proven experience of site management in complex and high rise housing developments.
• Good technical construction knowledge.
• Ability to interpret contract documentation including construction drawings and specifications.
• Proven customer service experience.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of contractual and non-contractual defects and their diagnosis.
• Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in producing and presenting clear, concise reports.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including word, excel and outlook.
• Demonstrable Continuous Personal Development history (CPD).
• Experience in the social housing sector and developing new builds.
• A construction trade or management qualification (and ideally site management safety training)
