Principal Geotechnical Engineer City Development Department - Highways and Transportation £42,683 - £45,591 per annum plus excellent benefits Geotechnical engineering is really at the heart of the department and if you are someone who likes to be involved in large and complex projects that will underpin the infrastructure of Leeds City Region, then we want to speak to you. About the role The Site Developments Service plays a vital role in supporting the delivery of regeneration and new development projects and are in the process of restructuring and reshaping service delivery. You will have an opportunity to participate and influence the development of services, supporting the delivery of some flagship projects both within Leeds and the surrounding areas. Managing the geotechnical department you will be responsible for providing expert advice to clients and to control the production of the technical reports and correspondence. Working collaboratively with other members of the highways and transportation team, you will provide geotechnical expertise on all matters relating to ground and mining investigations, earthworks control and geotechnical design. Manage and control the overall programming and resourcing, optimising resources available to ensure efficient delivery of work to programme and budget Liaise closely with clients and external parties relating to the programme regarding costs, including estimates and quotes Prepare and review technical reports, including interpretation of complex data, making recommendations for action Update Site Development Managers on work in progress and resource forecasting to meet the demands Support the development of staff within the team following current staff development procedures, including staff appraisals as required. About you You will be a strong people leader with excellent technical knowledge and have a proven track record in the geotechnical field. Your management style will allow you to develop the team, drive process efficiencies and improve the quality of all documents. As a senior member of geotechnical team you will need excellent communications and key stakeholder management.
