Job Description

HSE Recruitment are currently exclusively working with a major player in the construction sector, on the recruitment of a Head of SHE. This is a permanent role based from the head office in Leeds with UK travel. AS Head of SHE, you will work closely with the manufacturing and construction team to create an overarching strategy and management system for the business – whilst deputising for the current SHE Director. A large focus for the role is developing a zero harm culture, including building a behavioural safety improvement plan. You will need to develop excellent relationships with the companies' construction partners and will oversee all Health and Safety, and CDM responsibilities for multiple projects. There will be a need to work with the Head of Sustainability to ensure that environmental impacts are considered at all stages of production and installation, as well as leading on the implantation and development of ISO14001 and ISO45001. You will have outstanding technical knowledge and strength of conviction to ensure that safety remains the number one priority on all projects, as well as being responsible for all financial metrics in the SHE department. The ideal candidate will be extremely well qualified, with a NEBODH Diploma (or equivalent) as a minimum, and ideally with also be a Chartered member of IOSH. You will have extensive experience of working in a construction/build environment, and ideally some experience in a manufacturing environment also, and be very comfortable creating an overarching structure that aligns the two. You will have exceptional leadership skills, have experience of stakeholder engagement and be able to quickly develop relationships at all levels. You must have strong experience of implementing, developing and maintaining management systems and have a commercial outlook – and be able to balance commerciality with risk management.
