Job Description

Health & Safety Advisor West Midlands | £28K - £32K per annum | Expenses + Car allowance Accord Housing Association is looking to bolster its existing Health and Safety Team with a forward thinking health and safety professional with experience in construction and maintenance works. The role will be based at out of the West Bromwich and Walsall sites with travel between multiple sites in the west midlands. We are looking for an individual that can work pro-actively as part of a team but also work autonomously on their own initiative when on out on sites. The successful applicant must have good attention to detail, excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills. Candidates should have: Experience in general health and safety and construction health & safety management, within the maintenance and house building sectors Good knowledge of the CDM Regulations and how these apply Qualifications to a minimum of NEBOSH Construction Certificate, NVQ Level 5 or equivalent within a construction or maintenance environment have an IEMA Internal Environmental Management System Auditor qualification Reporting to the site Health and Safety Manager, duties will include (but are not limited to): - Building and maintaining a positive safety culture Assisting our existing team in pro-active site monitoring Coaching and mentoring managers, staff and contractors Reviewing and advising on risk assessments & method statements and safe systems of working Site auditing and inspection Performing incident and accident investigations Delivering safety training Writing and issuing toolbox talks Carrying out plant and equipment inspections Writing up and presenting health and safety and audit reports Environmental audits Key skills Good IT and written skills Maintaining professional health and safety CPD Ability to read and understand construction drawings Good organisational skills and time management A willingness to learn and develop in alternative health and safety disciplines Have the ability to work to fixed deadlines Current full driving licence and access to own transport is essential for this role.
