Architectural Metalwork / Steelwork Estimator Location: Borehamwood Job Description The JRL Group is an industry leading, innovative national construction group consisting of 14+ divisions across civils, build & the built environment and are ever expanding As part of this continued expansion we are looking to recruit an experienced architectural metalwork and steelwork Estimator to join our newly formed specialist fabrication division which will be located in Nottingham Responsibilities: * Appraising tender documents, identifying tender deliverables and preparing estimates as necessary * Ensuring tenders are submitted accurately, professionally and on time to reflect current market conditions * Ability to evaluate all architect and engineering drawings and specification documents and prepare full and accurate take offs, measures and costs based on these * Pricing of Bills of Quantities including build costs, erection, preliminaries and fees as applicable * Risk and value management of tenders. This includes recognising, taking advantage of and advising internal teams on potential risks and opportunities in a tender/project * To investigate and evaluate Value Engineering cost savings where applicable * Researching and understanding current market prices for subcontractors and materials * Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and where necessary enter into correspondence to align with the project specification requirement * Prepare commercial documents for tender handover to the project teams * Working with the site commercial team to ensure budgets and programs are reflective of actual delivery experience * In conjunction with the Contract Manager / Senior Management review contract details relevant to the company’s ability to deliver under the contract * To assist other group estimators and regional office managers with completion of bids as required * To maintain the Enquiry Database with up to date information e.g. tender follow up records and updating enquiry status Requirements: * A minimum of 2 years, 5 years preferred experience in a comparable metal fabrication estimating position * The ability to work under your own initiative * Successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role and have full technical knowledge and commercial awareness of all aspects of the metalworking and fabrication sector * To have experience on estimating a variety of major architectural work packages including but not limited to balustrades, balconies, secondary steelwork and high end finishes * Be computer literate and have excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office Packages eg Word and Excel * Full driving license as work could involve various site visits and travel between Borehamwood head office and Nottingham based factory * To have effective time management and be able to respond and react in a face paced environment Personal Qualities: * Resilient with an open mind set and positive attitude in making things happen * The ability to articulate your position in a clear, accurate and concise manner to a variety of internal and external audiences * Sense of ownership and pride in the work undertaken * Confident and determined with a strong work ethic Benefits: * Competitive salary, with confidence of working for an established and growing company * Company Pension Scheme * Private Healthcare * An opportunity to work on some of the nation’s most exciting Construction projects * Subsidised Cafeteria * Team Bonding events With an ambitious strategy, we’re poised for further growth and success, so if you’re committed, talented and enthusiastic, the JRL Group is the right place for you
