Job Description
Purpose of the role will be to support the BBV Environment Sustainability team.
Duties and responsibilities to include:
* Provide pragmatic support and advice to BBV teams and sub-contractors with delivering arboricultural requirements to programme, budget and quality standard. This includes on-site surveys, inspections and watching briefs, providing practical advice on programme and on-site measures, and providing practical advice on legal requirements and HS2 requirements.
* Problem-solve, finding practical cost-effective solutions to arboricultural challenges facing BBV teams and sub-contractors.
* Review/assure Design deliverables.
* Liaise with DJV, EWC, HS2 and stakeholders where required.
* Compile reports and other documentation as required.
* Develop and support implementation of arboricultural method statements and associated documents for construction.
* Provide technical support for Biodiversity No Net Loss initiatives.
* Actively help deliver a culture of continual improvement of on-site arboricultural practice that is solution-orientated to support construction teams.
* Investigate and report ecological and / or arboricultural incidents.
The following qualities/experience are essential:
* Excellent knowledge of ecological and / or arboricultural management and mitigation
* Arboriculture/ urban forestry degree or equivalent qualification
* LANTRA Professional Tree Inspector certificate
* Thorough knowledge of BS 5837: 2012 and ability to advise on likely impacts of works on trees
* Good level of commercial awareness
* Full UK driver’s licence and flexibility to travel
* Good understanding of arboricultural management for construction sites
* Excellent understanding of the utilities/construction/engineering operating environment
* Excellent understanding of tree management software and GIS
* Literate in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
* AA or ICF Membership or equivalent
* Experience of working on large scale infrastructure construction/highways projects
* Experienced with dealing with Natural England, LPA, Statutory and non-statutory stakeholders on such issues
* Understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively to obtain the best outcome for the project
* Determination to see tasks through to completion, with excellent planning and organisation skills
