Job Description

Position: Senior Engineering Manager

Location: Hampshire

Salary: £65,000 to £75,000 + Excellent Benefits (including Bonus / Relocation Assistance)

Our Client designs and manufactures high performance fiber optic laser delivery systems and lasers for commercial applications in biotechnology and semiconductor manufacturing. Due to sustained expansion, they now require a Senior Engineering Manager to lead cross functional teams including: NPI, Design Engineering, Electronics, Software, Reliability Engineering, Physicists etc…

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Management Responsibilities

  • Human Resource responsibility: Direct reports and overall developmental, organisational and disciplinary responsibility for all engineering team members in Hamble (excludes Project Management and Product Management)
  • Member of site management team with constituent responsibilities to assist directors in steering of the local business entity

Engineering Departmental Leadership

  • Technical lead of the engineering team
  • Resource prioritisation and allocation
  • Technical authority for all designs and technical processes/procedures
  • Ownership of all departmental procedures including product and export compliance
  • Project management of minor product modifications as required including some CAPA projects
  • Technical support of Product Management and Sales as required
  • Departmental budget planning and spend tracking
  • Planning and executing of product and process specific technology development
  • Technical support and guidance to ensure that best technical practice is adhered to CI & NPI project teams
  • Ensure the team is maintaining a high standard of technical knowledge

We anticipate that you will have:

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. degree in physics, applied physics or relevant discipline
  • Experience in realising technically challenging opto-electronic and optical solutions
  • Understanding of laser and optics
  • Knowledge CapEx / CAPA / Statistical Process Control (SPC) etc…

You will be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills both written and oral, be computer literate, and able to work as part of a team.
