We are currently looking for a Reinforced Concrete Design Engineer to work with our very busy client in Barnsley . BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB'S FUNCTION •Engineer with skills in reinforced concrete design for project specific and general design of storage tanks to company and clients requirements. Current ability or the ability to up skill to assist in the design steel storage tanks is very favorable. 4. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOBHOLDER Concrete Design (Relevant or transferrable experience) • Working knowledge of structural design and detailing of reinforced concrete liquid-retaining structural elements (bases, walls, roofs) to British Standards (BS8007) and Eurocodes (EC2) • Working knowledge or ability to up skill to assist in the design / checking of steel tank structures. • Thorough working knowledge of relevant design codes, structural analysis using finite element software, and reinforced concrete design • Responsibility for production/checking of detailed design documentation (calculations and drawings) and submission to clients for approval • Liaison with/management of specialist design subcontractors for outsourced elements (e.g. post-tensioned tanks, precast concrete roof systems etc.) • Responsibility for production of detailed design/construction drawings and other associated documents (reinforcement bar bending schedules etc.) • Provision of ‘on-demand’ detailed technical support to on-site construction teams • Liaison with other key suppliers (e.g. reinforcement and ready-mixed concrete suppliers) • Assist with the development of custom design software and techniques. • Contribute to the continuing improvement programme to reduce costs and raise quality. • Produce information to safely meet client and in house deadlines and to advise early of any anticipated delays. • Ensure all relevant company procedures and policies are adhered to in the performance of the above duties. • An eye for detail and ensuring quality and standard of design is maintained. • The jobholder is responsible for developing the Company’s image in the marketplace by pursuing the objectives of RATER: R Reliability (keeping Company promises –dates, prices, workmanship) A Authority (knowledge, expertise providing comfort and security to customers) T Tangibles (appearance of employees, contractors, vehicles, equipment, packaging, behaviour) E Empathy (understanding of customer’s needs and problems) R Responsiveness (willingness to help the customer) 5. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS PERSONNEL REPORTING TO JOBHOLDER (Attach organisation chart if appropriate) • n/a OTHERS WITH WHOM THERE IS REGULAR WORKING CONTACT: • Design Manager • Design Engineers • Sales and Contracts Personnel • Production Personnel • Customers – role requires occasional client facing duties Attributes Required Desirable Qualifications • Excellent Computer skills (including working knowledge of Great Plains, Excel & Word) • Good general education with a good standard of numeracy and literacy. • HNC/HND or Degree in a civil / structural engineering or similar. • Relevant or transferable reinforced concrete design ability. • Relevant / transferable/ ability to up skill steel design ability. • Knowledge of 2D, 3D and solid Modelling software. • Able to use FEA or similar design software. • Knowledge of the Tanks industry. • Knowledge of Autodesk Software (Inventor, AutoCAD) • Working use of STAAD Pro. Experience • Minimum of 5 years of design at a similar level of detail and complexity • Ability to work across departments & achieve positive results. Skills & Abilities • Good communication skills • Ability to work in a team • Ability to set and meet deadlines • Competence in MS Office Software.
