Area Engineer - Electrical

My client is a leading building services certification body providing building regulations schemes, products and support to the construction industry. We are now looking to recruit qualified Area Engineers with knowledge of electrical standards ( BS 7671) to conduct electrical assessments and audits.
The ideal candidate will be electrically trained with a knowledge of electrical standards. We will be happy to consider ex-forces or military personnel with electrical training and experience.
Purpose of role: The Area Engineer is responsible for building relationships with applicants for registration, electrical contractors, their employees, and various other professional bodies and to provide qualified assessment services.
* Undertake a weekly programme of visits, to be centrally scheduled by a member of the administration team
* Conduct assessments of customers/contractors ensuring the necessary compliance to the competent person scheme rules
* Undertake assessments of applicants for registration and conduct assessment visits in other geographical areas, as requested.
* Make recommendations concerning approval, continued registration, deferment or rejection and compile all documentation required by the appropriate procedures.
* Respond to technical and related enquiries from registered contractors, local authorities and others about the implementation of BS 7671 and related BS codes of practice
In order to be successful in this role, you will be required to have the following skills and experience;
* High level of technical competence over a wide range of electrical installations
* Detailed knowledge of BS 7671 and related codes of practice
* Knowledge of accreditation criteria
* Excellent time management skills with ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
* Communication skills with the ability to build excellent relationships at all levels
* HNC in engineering or equivalent desirable
* Corporate membership of the IET/ IEE/ CIBSE desirable
