Overall Responsibility
Must have a back ground in joinery material knowledge
As a Project Coordinator, you must have skills of adaptability / versatility with administrative and facilitation skills to keep the project focused on its objectives.
Must have good communication skills in acting as the liaison between the project management team, fitting manager, subcontractor, and suppliers. The Project Coordinator is an integral member of the project team responsible for coordinating varying material types, size and complexity for each live project. Purchase the products in accordance with the established budgets ensuring that the construction contract maintains profitability, and the most cost effective materials are purchased to lower outlays. Seek quotes on prices and availability of materials from a variety of suppliers, and manage and report on the accumulative cost of all new purchases. Ensure the projects team is fully briefed on the cost of materials and delivery dates.
Key Responsibilities / Competence
Coordination (with guidance from the project management team)
Send out enquires for appropriate materials, collate and analyse quotations and place orders.
Attain best price on materials against budget prior to placing order in line with specification and drawings.
Place orders with suitable suppliers for joinery materials, ensuring costs remain within budget.
Chase up deliveries dates and ensure materials are delivered to site on time
Offering advice and recommendations on new / current suppliers.
Drive stringent material efficiencies across the department
Oversee the preparation of the operation and maintenance manual (O&M). The operating and maintenance manual includes details of the instructions for its operation and maintenance, and guarantees and warranties.
Supplier Analysis
Information gathering – collect and analyse data identify business requirements; define sourcing categories / review and show trends. Show cost savings in report where you have managed to drive down external spend.
Meet external suppliers, giving feedback and developing relationships, negotiate pricing and discount structures, quality and credit limits, closing a deal, account opening agreement terms.
Build portfolio of clients with different sectors and geographical coverage, reduce delivery cost and increase profitability of the organisation.
Research new subcontractors considering geographical coverage, risk and vulnerability i.e. large quantities of work secured in the London area.
