Design Manager - D&B Contractor

Title: Design Manager Main Contractor - London Project Portfolio includes: Mixed Use Retail / Residential Development - High Rise. Student Accomodation. Third Level Education Campus D&B Hotel Schemes Responsibilities: Manage the design process during the pre-construction and as required, the construction phase. Fully investigate Value engineering and value creation opportunities. Examination of enquiry / proposal documents. Production of a Contractor’s Proposal documents. Manage the design process and all external consultants to the design process. Drive innovative and cost effective solutions into the design. Progress design issues within a strict timescale & ensure designers meet information delivery dates. Review Sub contractor design proposals. Verify & control status of consultants and subcontractors drawings and specifications & maintain registers. Ensure the consultant scope of services, responsibilities and fees are agreed. Qualifications Key Skills and Qualifications: Previous experience of detailed design coordination for a contractor or consultant is essential to the role. A strong background in a Construction environment Previous experience managing the design process on multi million pound Commercial and Residential projects. Recent experience as part of a management engineering design and/or construction projects Awareness of the commercial factors applicable to tendering & value engineering Experience in checking design drawings and raising technical queries Knowledge of BIM processes and ability to use BIM model viewing software Proven ability to communicate effectively, and work in collaboration with other team members Willingness to travel periodically to designers offices Elysearch & Placement are an Executive Search & Recruitment Consultancy offering permanent staff and contract solutions to clients across the Engineering, Real Estate & Corporate Finance sectors.
