Land Surveyor / GPS Engineer

Foundation Personnel are looking to recruit a Land Surveyor to work with our Client a large Earthworks Contractor. Land Surveyor / GPS machine guidance engineer role responsibilities: • Report to the Senior surveyor in a team of 3 and receive instructions to • Carry out bi-weekly surveys of the site and assist with calculation of quantities moved using LSS / N4ce. Training given if required on either of these packages, but detailed knowledge of some form of survey software is essential. • Ensure GPS model information is always up to date on the earthworks plant – the works will be constructed mainly with the use of GPS guidance. • Maintenance / calibration of GPS machine guidance – a good working knowledge of GPS machine guidance is essential. • Conventional setting out of earthworks where GPS machine guidance is not suitable. • Setting up / checking / maintenance of MM GPS / laser / total station for trimming of formation / subbase. • Previous use of drones would be an advantage as we are considering the purchase of a drone for survey work. • Assist senior surveyor with updating earthworks quantities schedules • Use telematics information from earthworks plant to calculate quantities moved on non-survey weeks. • Ensure quality records are produced to a good standard and supplied to quality manager for collation. • Ensure the latest information is always in use on site – obtain from Quality Manager and disseminate to staff supervisors as required. IPads are likely to be used by site supervisors for record keeping, assist with the development of the systems and training supervisors in their use. • Identify NCR’s and report promptly to avoid disallowed costs • Ensure safety standards are upheld and report any issues with our works to management. Assist with inductions of personnel at busy times, and the distribution of safety material – RAMS, tool box talks etc. • Knowledge of earthworks and highways construction generally is desirable. • This post would suit either an experienced surveyor or a senior surveyor who prefers to remain in the field rather than the office.
