Foundation Personnel are currently recruiting for an Appointed Person to Join our client in the East Anglia region.
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To ensure that Contract Lifts are performed in the correct manner by recording hazards and measurements vital for producing the Method Statement. To formally asses all Crane Supervisors and Slinger/Signallers within the company as part of ongoing verification of training.
TASKS:
• Ensure that all Contract Lifts are performed in the correct manner.
• Formally assess all Crane Supervisors and Slingers, and the preparation of the relevant documentation.
• Assist with the training of new AP’s, including computer training in CAD.
• Conduct visits in a logical sequence to make best use of journey times and distances.
• Prepare a thorough risk assessment for all contract lifts ad produce a written Safe Method of Working Statement, which should be passed to the customer only after an order has been received.
• If unlikely to meet Crane Supervisor, ensure that the method statement is explained to the Hire Desk who will pass the information to the Crane Supervisor.
• Create ongoing relationships which will prompt customers to seek clients’ involvement in the future.
• Undertake the responsibilities of Crane Supervisor if required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
• Demonstrate sufficient practical and theoretical training and experience to enable to plan and supervise lifting operations in accordance with LOLER and BS7121.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Construction Plant industry, Crane Operating and Crane Industry management and thus distinguish clearly the different responsibilities of the parties to a CPA Hire and a Contract Lift to be able to advise customers on cranes suitable for their needs.
• Demonstrate a good working knowledge of legislation and British standards pertinent to Lifting Operations.
• Demonstrate a clear understanding of and be able to explain the CPA terms and condition for Hire and Contract Lifting.
• Demonstrate an Appointed Persons and Crane Supervisor CITB approved card.
• Show a detailed knowledge of performance data for all cranes.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of company charges for equipment and personnel.
• To be able to draw up berthing plans for the crane, preferably using CAD software
• Complete risk assessments and method statements using client templates.
• Apply agility and physical fitness to climb as necessary to complete risk assessments and method statements.
• Show a disciplined and methodical approach to documenting exactly what has been agreed, when and with whom.
• Demonstrate aptitude for using the telephone, email and integrated Quality and Health and Safety management system.
• Employ a pleasant manner on the telephone and in person when discussing matters with customer, colleagues, and operators.
• Show a good listening ability and to be able to keep calm during discussions and negotiations.
• Demonstrate the ability to formally assess the competence of a person performing their tasks and complete documentation.
• Exercise computer skills especially in Word and CAD.
• Exercise tutoring skills in IT with particular regard to CAD and ACT software.
• Exercise sound two-way communication skills – poke, written and hand signals.
• Demonstrate a full car driving licence.
OBJECTIVES AND TARGETS:
• Maintain sales target levels in line with business plan.
• Ensure method statements are dispatched prior to the commencement of a job.
