Principal Fire Engineer

The Role: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fire Engineer to join my clients London office, to play a key role in the delivery of fire engineering design services across a variety of sectors including healthcare, education, retail, commercial and critical systems. Your role will be crucial to the successful delivery of innovative design solutions for some of the most exciting building projects in the UK and internationally, and over time will enable you to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy. This senior role will allow the successful candidate to develop their project management skills, leading the delivery of innovative fire engineering solutions and leading the work of the fire engineering team in the London office. There are opportunities to work internationally, with travel to our overseas offices as the need arises. Part of this role is to develop the already strong relationships with our clients, and to be involved in networking and business development activities, for which full support and training will be provided. The Skills: Educated to degree level in Fire Engineering or a related discipline, you will have gained extensive relevant experience in Fire Engineering design within a wide range of building types. You will have prior experience in managing a small team of engineers and have proven your technical understanding in relevant design software. Having gained practical experience in working to NFPA, European Norms, British Standards & Performance based design codes, you understand the role of fire engineering for the built environment, and have a passion for providing excellence in fire engineering design. You must be able to reason from first principles, and be familiar with common fire design software. Part of the role involves leading discussions with the relevant approvals organisations, and excellent negotiation and persuasive skills are important, as is the ability to work to deadlines and within budgetary constraints. Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills are essential
