Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor required by National Construction and Housebuilding Company working on housing and extra care developments. Duties: Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the successful applicant will take responsibility of allocated contract/s in accordance with the systems and procedures of the Business Unit, in order to fulfil the requirements of the Company in maximising quality of service and profitability. • Managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects. • Minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, whilst still achieving the required standards and quality. • Assist in supporting construction management to achieve this goal at all levels on all projects. • Effective operation of Main Contract, including notices etc. • Valuations and cash management. • Final Accounts and variations • Subcontract Procurement. • Subcontract account management, including payments and final accounts • Assist members of team with any contractual disputes which arise. • Preparation of monthly cost / value reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members • Production of commercial reports together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members The Candidate: • We are keen to speak to people with experience of working as the lead surveyor on similar size developments, experience of JCT, PPC and NEC are essential. • A degree in Quantity Surveying will be preferred, ideally the candidate will also be part of a relevant professional body. • Candidates may currently be working in a similar role with a developer or contractor and will be required to demonstrate New build construction experience Although the position is suitable for an experienced QS it could also be a great opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS who has the desire to rapidly progress their career, whilst being supported by a development programme that will offer relevant, hands-on experience from highly qualified professionals and specific, work-related training courses to enhance their day to day skills.
