Due to continued and sustained growth in the UK, and a significant increase in workload, our client is now looking to recruit an Environmental Scientist who will undertake field work and office reporting / project management duties in the areas of; contaminated land and waste, and environmental management, whilst playing a key role in the growth of the Scottish business stream. You will be asked to follow specifications efficiently, seek innovative approaches to delivering clients’ needs and generate opportunities for the promotion of all of the company’s services. The Role • Supervision of ground investigations, soil sampling and environmental monitoring • Safe, profitable and timely delivery / management of all assigned sites and projects • Input to proposal writing, and factual / interpretative reporting • Providing first class customer service to existing and new clients • As part of a close knit team you will actively contribute towards the successful delivery of the Division’s business plan and targets • Ensure professional relationships (internal / external) are developed and maintained to maximise the opportunity to successfully procure and profitably deliver projects • To oversee, manage and co-ordinate with all project team members to ensure that information flow and progress achieved • To work closely with the Directors and other members of the team to ensure that the company position is maintained at the highest potential level • To manage and co-ordinate information and the communication process both within the team and to external bodies • To work and direct the line management proactively and effectively, helping to ensure that individual and team targets are achieved or exceeded • To attend weekly / monthly progress meetings • To ensure that any arising issues are managed to the requirements of the company procedures and remain of prime importance The Person • Able to demonstrate a stable career path within a recognised geotechnical / geological / ground engineering consultancy or contractors, ideally with experience of a wide variation of schemes • Ideally you will have experience of soil and water sampling, supervision of site investigations and factual / interpretative reporting skills on a range of projects • Possess a relevant degree with good communication skills and be commercially aware • A strong customer focused engagement style and able to understand a client’s requirements • Excellent IT skills including MS Office applications and a selection of industry specific specialist packages • Able to operate hands-on in a non-confrontational manner and thrive in a team orientated environment • Able to demonstrate sound commercial acumen but with the ability to delegate necessary responsibility against deadlines • Disciplined experience of regular progress / project reporting procedures • Should have presence, be well presented and outward going • Must have excellent time management skills and be able to effectively prioritise • Open to new ideas, not set in their ways able to think laterally • To have assisted responsibility on a range of projects. • A motivator and team player who is able to evaluate problems or issues and offer solutions • Must be loyal to the company and the group This challenging and exciting opportunity requires a qualified individual from a geotechnical / geological / environmental / ground engineering background who can join a thriving and growing team, and further develop their skills and experience in the Geo-environmental arena.
