Building Surveying Manager Salary: £48,500 - £50,900 Depending on Experience and Qualifications Location Ipswich Hybrid working available (approximately 2 days per week in the office, 3 at home or onsite) The Role We are seeking an experienced Building Surveying Manager to lead a team of surveying professionals and technical officers responsible for delivering a high-quality maintenance, repairs and capital improvement service across a diverse property portfolio. This is a senior leadership position requiring strong technical expertise, project management capability and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders. You will oversee planned maintenance programmes, major capital works and compliance-related projects, ensuring all work is delivered safely, on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities Lead, manage and develop a team of building surveyors and technical staff. Oversee maintenance, repairs and capital improvement programmes. Manage complex and high-value building projects from feasibility through to completion. Monitor budgets, quality standards, programme delivery and contractor performance. Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, building regulations and statutory requirements. Prepare specifications, tender documentation and contract information for procurement exercises. Manage contractor relationships and oversee project delivery on site. Investigate and resolve complex customer complaints and contractor disputes. Produce reports and provide professional advice to senior management and key stakeholders. Develop and implement policies, procedures and service improvement initiatives. Support strategic planning and contribute to long-term asset management objectives. About You You will be a qualified Building Surveyor or hold an equivalent construction-related qualification, supported by significant post-qualification experience in a property, housing or construction environment. You should be able to demonstrate: Experience managing building surveying teams. Strong project and programme management skills. Knowledge of building regulations, health and safety legislation and construction best practice. Experience preparing specifications, contract documentation and tender submissions. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. The ability to manage budgets, priorities and multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Desirable Experience Membership of a relevant professional body. Relevant Degree Local Authority, Housing Association or social housing experience. IOSH, NEBOSH or other health and safety qualifications. Experience developing policies, strategies and service improvement programmes.
