Our client, a fast-growing, family business based in the Magherafelt area, is a leading specialist in structural engineering and machine design. They are currently undergoing significant expansion and as a result are now looking to recruit 2 Design Engineers to join their team and drive the development of their respected brand, including their range of agricultural and construction trailer products. THE ROLE To design, develop, and refine high-performance machinery and attachments. You will take projects from initial concept through to production-ready documentation. KEY DUTIES Product Innovation: Develop innovative concepts for new agricultural and construction attachments, focusing on durability and value for money. 3D Modelling & Drafting: Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks. Technical Design: Perform engineering calculations for structural integrity, load-bearing capacity, and hydraulic systems integration. Prototyping & Testing: Oversee the construction of prototypes and conduct rigorous field testing to ensure machines meet customer expectations and safety standards. Continuous Improvement: Modify existing product designs based on customer feedback and advancements in materials. Documentation:Review and prepare comprehensive operator manuals and technical reports for each product. THE PERSON Degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent HND with experience). 2-3 years of experience in a mechanical design role, ideally within the agricultural or plant machinery sector. Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and 2D drafting. Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes. Innovative problem-solver with a hands-on, practical approach to machine function. Ability to present design concepts to clients or senior management. SALARY An industry attractive rate of pay based on experience will be on offer to the successful candidate. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and will hold a senior position in the company. They will take total responsibility for both public and private sector bids and commercial development. THE ROLE The successful candidate will lead the bid process for new contracts, overseeing tender document analysis, bid strategy, and submission to meet client requirements and company objectives. You will take responsibility for identifying/sourcing new opportunities to bid. THE PERSON A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Bids/Tender Manager within the N.I. THE ROLE To provide accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions for structural steel projects, ranging from simple portal frames to complex industrial developments. You will act as a key link between clients, design engineers, and the fabrication team to ensure projects are budgeted accurately and remain commercially viable. KEY DUTIES Prepare and submit detailed quotations based on technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation. Conduct accurate "Quantity Take-Offs" and measurements from engineering drawings to determine material requirements. Calculate total project costs Source and negotiate competitive quotes from material suppliers and sub-contractors. Identify and assess financial, technical, and operational risks associated with specific steelwork projects. Work closely with in-house structural design engineers to value-engineer designs for maximum productivity. Clarify client requirements, attend pre-contract meetings, and present final bids to stakeholders. Maintain an accurate pipeline of tenders and produce cost reports for management review.
