About Foster Contracting Limited Foster Contracting Limited (FCL) is a specialist contractor operating within the highways and infrastructure sector, running a diverse fleet of HGVs, light commercial vehicles, and specialist plant including water jetting and installation equipment. Our workshop supports both routine fleet maintenance and specialist operational plant. Role Overview We are seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic / Fitter to join our in-house workshop team. This is a flexible, hands-on role working across a varied fleet including HGVs, light vans, beavertails, water jetting machines, bitumen spray tankers and specialist installation plant. The role would suit a practical, adaptable mechanic with strong servicing and inspection experience who is comfortable supporting yard operations as well as workshop duties. Key Responsibilities Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs to our extensive fleet Undertake 6-weekly inspections in line with company and legal requirements Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs efficiently and safely Carry out servicing across a mixed and varied fleet Use and maintain workshop tools and equipment Support yard duties, including, Loading and unloading vehicles, Forklift operation, General yard organisation and safety Ensure accurate completion of inspection and service records Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety, and compliance Skills & Experience Required Essential Proven mechanic experience HGV experience Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance / Mechanics (or equivalent) Experience servicing and maintaining multiple vehicle types Comfortable working on both light vans and heavy commercial vehicles Flexible approach to workload and duties Desirable HGV licence Forklift driving experience (or willingness to be trained) Experience with specialist plant or installation equipment (not essential) Personal Attributes Practical, reliable, and hands-on Able to work independently and as part of a team Flexible and adaptable to a varied role Strong awareness of health & safety Good time management and organisational skills What We Offer Competitive salary Stable, full-time position Daytime working hours (07 00) Opportunity to work with a varied and interesting fleet Supportive workshop and operations team
