Senior Quantity Surveyor - Power & Energy Infrastructure Location: Inverness, Scottish Highlands Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + Benefits Job Type: Permanent The Opportunity JL Renewable Solutions is working with a well-established infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of major electricity transmission and distribution projects in the Scottish Highlands. Our client is delivering critical infrastructure works as part of the ongoing investment in the UK's electricity network, with a strong pipeline of projects and opportunities for continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of significant project packages, manage contractual and financial performance and play a key role in supporting successful project delivery. You'll work closely with senior commercial and operational management, providing commercial leadership across project activities and supporting the development of the wider commercial team. Key Responsibilities Take responsibility for the commercial management of major electricity transmission and distribution projects or significant work packages. Manage project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting, cashflow and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs). Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, early warnings, variations and contractual notices. Lead subcontractor procurement, commercial negotiations, valuations, payments and final account agreements. Identify, assess and manage contractual and commercial risks. Ensure accurate financial reporting and maintain strong commercial controls throughout the project lifecycle. Work closely with Project Managers, planners and operational teams to manage change, delays and programme-related commercial matters. Support the preparation and negotiation of contractual claims and final accounts. Maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and key project stakeholders. Provide commercial guidance and support to Quantity Surveyors and other members of the project team. Contribute to commercial strategy, project reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. About You We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract knowledge and a proven track record of managing commercial responsibilities on infrastructure or construction projects. Ideally, you'll have: Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a more senior position. Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and compensation event procedures. Proven experience managing CVRs, forecasting, cashflow and project financial performance. Experience leading subcontractor procurement, negotiations and final accounts. Strong contractual awareness and the ability to manage commercial risk independently. Experience working closely with Project Managers and operational teams on complex infrastructure projects. Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills. Ability to mentor or support less experienced commercial colleagues. A degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline would be advantageous. Experience within power transmission and distribution, overhead lines, substations or utilities infrastructure would be highly advantageous. However, candidates with strong transferable experience from civil engineering, oil and gas, rail or other major infrastructure projects are also encouraged to apply. What's on Offer?
