We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Mechanical Bias Contract Manager to oversee the successful delivery of technical services contracts. This role is responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring operational excellence across multiple sites, supporting site based and remote operatives, and driving commercial performance. About the Role This role would be well suited to either an experienced Mechanical Contract Manager or a technically competent Mechanical Engineer who is looking to take the next step into a Contract Management role. The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for clients, combining strong technical expertise with client relationship management, commercial awareness and operational delivery. They will be responsible for ensuring contractual obligations are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably, while identifying opportunities to improve service delivery, drive sustainable solutions and support business growth. Responsibilities Contract Management Support clients throughout all aspects of contract implementation and delivery Maintain a thorough understanding of current works in progress (WIP), planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes, site requirements, and client expectations Monitor contract performance, profitability, and commercial viability Ensure service delivery meets contractual and operational standards Identify opportunities for service improvements and contract development Prepare and issue quotations for additional works Provide technical guidance and support to clients and operatives Develop specifications for materials, plant, upgrades, repairs, and refurbishment projects. Asset Management, Sustainability & Lifecycle Planning Develop lifecycle plans and budget forecasts based on asset condition and site requirements Promote a strong health and safety culture across all sites Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and statutory requirements Qualifications Proven experience managing technical & maintenance management contracts. Strong commercial awareness and understanding of contract P&L management. Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management skills. Experience preparing quotations and managing additional works. Strong technical knowledge of building services, mechanical systems, and associated plant. Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities across a diverse portfolio. Required Skills Relevant engineering qualification. Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH). Experience within hard FM, M&E, or building services environments. Knowledge of sustainability initiatives and energy management practices

About the role You will lead safe, efficient project delivery, act as a key client contact, manage commercial performance, and identify opportunities for improvement, sustainability, and growth. Key Responsibilities: Project Delivery & Planning Manage projects from enquiry to completion, handover, and final account. Define scope, deliverables, programmes, milestones, and resource requirements. Coordinate labour, subcontractors, materials, plant, and specialist resources. Monitor progress, risks, dependencies, variations, and site requirements. Commercial Management Prepare quotations, tenders, scopes of work, and technical proposals. Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and commissioning documentation. Strong coordination, client-facing, organisational, and problem-solving skills. Confident managing multiple projects and using Microsoft Office or project management systems. Desirable Qualifications & Certifications Relevant Engineering, Building Services, Construction, or Facilities Management qualification. Project management qualification such as PRINCE2, APM, Agile, or equivalent. IOSH, SMSTS, SSSTS, NEBOSH, or similar certification. Knowledge of CDM Regulations, permit-to-work systems, statutory compliance, CAFM, and scheduling software. Professional membership and a full UK Driving Licence are desirable.
