Estimator Water & Wastewater Location: Alton, Hampshire Hybrid Working Available Salary: Up to £50,000 + Package A leading specialist in water and wastewater solutions is looking to appoint an Estimator to join its growing UK team based in Alton, Hampshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior or early-career Estimator looking to develop their commercial and estimating experience within the water and wastewater sector. The successful candidate will work closely with the commercial, project and technical teams, gaining exposure to the full estimating and project lifecycle. With ongoing training and development, the role is designed to provide a clear pathway towards a future Quantity Surveyor position. The Opportunity This is a strong opportunity for an early-career commercial professional who wants to build a long-term career within the water and wastewater industry. The successful candidate will receive support and development to build their estimating and commercial knowledge, with the intention of progressing into a Quantity Surveyor role as their experience and capability develop. The Role The Estimator will support the preparation of accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for water and wastewater projects. Key responsibilities will include: • Preparing estimates and costings for projects and tenders. • Reviewing tender and project documentation to understand scope and requirements. • Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations. • Assisting with the preparation of tender submissions and commercial proposals. • Working with the technical and project teams to ensure estimates accurately reflect project requirements. • Supporting the review of costs, margins and commercial risks. • Maintaining accurate estimating records and project information. • Assisting with variations, cost reporting and other commercial activities as experience develops. • Developing an understanding of contracts, procurement and project commercial management. About the Candidate The role would suit someone early in their commercial career who is keen to develop within the water, wastewater, engineering, construction or utilities sectors. Candidates may have: • Previous experience in estimating, quantity surveying, commercial administration or a related role. • A relevant degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification would be advantageous. • Good numerical and analytical skills. • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach. • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel. • Good communication and organisational skills. • The ability to work effectively with technical and project teams. • A genuine interest in developing a long-term career within commercial and quantity surveying. Commissioning Manager We are looking for an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead commissioning activities across water infrastructure projects on the Yorkshire Water framework. You will manage commissioning engineers and take responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering commissioning through to successful project handover. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage commissioning teams across multiple projects. Develop commissioning and process impact plans alongside project teams and Yorkshire Water. Coordinate mechanical, electrical and process commissioning activities. Ensure robust commissioning procedures, testing, records and documentation are maintained. Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, designers and operational teams. Coordinate internal teams, suppliers and specialist subcontractors. Ensure commissioning activities are delivered safely and in line with programme and quality requirements. Support client training, project handover and aftercare. Monitor commissioning progress and provide regular reporting. Recruit, mentor and develop commissioning engineers and junior team members . About You Strong background in mechanical, electrical and/or process commissioning. Water/wastewater sector experience is highly desirable. Experience leading commissioning teams and coordinating multiple projects. Minimum HNC in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Strong understanding of commissioning, testing and project handover. Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. Experience working with BIM/digital engineering tools would be advantageous. SMSTS and professional qualifications are desirable.
