About the Role We're working with a well-established, values-driven environmental consultancy seeking a Senior or Principal Ecologist to take a technical lead across a diverse portfolio of ecological projects. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical delivery with leadership, mentoring, and client engagement. You'll be instrumental in shaping best practice, supporting junior ecologists, and helping clients deliver sustainable, compliant developments. Key Responsibilities Lead and deliver Phase 1 & 2 habitat surveys , protected species surveys, EcIAs , HRAs , and BNG assessments Prepare PEAs , mitigation strategies, EPS licence applications, RAMS , and fee proposals Liaise with Natural England , local authorities, landowners, and key stakeholders Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior ecologists Lead client meetings, support tenders, and contribute to business development About You Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline Minimum 6 years' experience in ecological consultancy Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when required CEnv or Full Member of CIEEM (or IEMA / ISEP equivalent) Holds at least one EPS licence Strong knowledge of BNG , EMS , and/or BREEAM Confident communicator with a collaborative and professional approach What's on Offer Competitive salary based on experience and level Hybrid working and company vehicle Paid professional memberships Overtime and TOIL options Supportive, inclusive culture with genuine career progression If you're an experienced ecologist looking to lead impactful projects and develop the next generation of professionals, we'd love to hear from you.
