Responsibilities As an Assistant Planner , you will work closely with experienced planning professionals to ensure the successful delivery of major projects. Your key responsibilities will include: Supporting Planners and Senior Planners in developing and managing realistic and contractually compliant construction programmes. Assisting with the preparation and maintenance of NEC3/NEC4 programmes, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements. Monitoring site progress, gathering data, and preparing reports to support monthly performance updates and client communications. Contributing to the review of compensation events and variations, compiling evidence and programme details for contractual submissions. Supporting project and commercial teams with programme-related insights for cost and resource planning. Assisting in the creation of tender programmes and supporting pre-construction teams with competitive bid submissions. Learning from experienced colleagues and contributing to continuous improvement across the planning function. Visiting project sites to support short-term planning and coordination activities. Qualifications To succeed in this role, you will bring the following: A qualification (or working towards one) in engineering, construction management, project management, or equivalent hands-on experience. A strong interest in construction planning and an understanding of how projects are delivered on-site. Some familiarity with Asta Powerproject or other planning software (training will be provided). Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and positive attitude. Strong analytical and organisational abilities, with attention to detail and a curiosity to learn. A desire to develop a long-term career in planning within a growing and supportive business. Previous experience or exposure to civil engineering or infrastructure projects would be advantageous. Day-to-Day Your typical day as an Assistant Planner will involve: Collaborating with Planners and Senior Planners to develop and update project programmes. Visiting project sites to gather data and support short-term planning activities. Assisting in the preparation of reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders. Learning and applying planning software tools to create and manage project schedules. Supporting the review of project progress and identifying areas for improvement. Contributing to tender submissions and pre-construction planning efforts. Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented Planner. As a Planner, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining schedules for engineering, procurement, and construction projects. Working closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of activities and adherence to project timelines. Responsibilities Collecting all necessary information to create schedules following Works Order rules Linking tasks across engineering, procurement, and construction teams for each project and full programme Estimating task durations and identifying the critical path Develop tender & construction programmes based on allocate budget and resources Collaborating with the procurement team and suppliers to confirm delivery dates for materials and equipment Negotiating timelines for work with site managers and subcontractors Updating detailed schedules with new information from engineering, procurement, and site teams Planning weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly project activities Creating and sending schedules Assessing risks and creating contingency plans for the programme Producing progress reports and visual representations of project forecasts Drawing up a construction program Defining methods and establish outputs with the wider team including supply chain Preparing a resourced program, outcome confidence and expectations Contributing and establishing a programme risk analysis throughout build Preparation of visual materials in support of planning methods preparing and maintaining the contractual programme to meet reporting requirements, both internal and external Work with site to understand progress, milestones and activity Report programmes to NEC form of contract Qualifications HNC/HND or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field Ability to interpret drawings, specifications etc Substantial experience of a wide range of civil engineering, to Sub Agent level before converting to Planner Experience working with site-based teams and communicating across multiple disciplines Able to manage and prioritise workloads across multiple projects if required Strong IT and reporting skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Day-to-day Open to applications from current planners and experienced engineers who maybe looking to try something new in their career.
