Managing Quantity Surveyor North West, UK - Warrington Tier 2 National Civil Engineering Contractor Sectors: Industrial, Roads, Utilities, Power and Renewable Energy About the Role A Managing Quantity Surveyor is sought to lead the commercial function within the North West Civil Engineering division of a Tier 2 National Civil Engineering Contractor. This pivotal role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in full contractual compliance. You will manage site-based commercial teams, provide high-level support to directors, and oversee the financial performance of complex civil engineering projects across sectors including renewables and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Commercial Strategy: Direct and manage all commercial aspects of projects, including budgets, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting. Contractual & Legal Compliance : Administer contracts (NEC/JCT), ensure compliance, prepare claims, and secure contractual entitlements. Financial Management : Oversee valuations, applications for payment, final accounts, and project profitability monitoring. Subcontractor Management: Lead procurement, negotiation, and administration of subcontract agreements. Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior surveyors, support Project Managers and Directors with commercial and strategic advice. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure smooth commercial operations and dispute resolution where required. Skills and Qualifications Experience: Proven track record as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering projects, ideally with exposure to large-scale infrastructure, renewable energy, or industrial projects. Contracts Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts. Commercial Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and financial forecasting capabilities. Qualifications: Membership of a recognized professional body such as RICS or CIOB is highly desirable. Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a commercial team in a fast-paced construction environment.
